Charizard
Tier 2
Stage 2
Midrange
In Expanded, Charizard ex has a unique partner: the Inteleon line. Through the Shady Dealings Ability of Drizzile and Inteleon, it becomes possible to do a lot of things, without putting any two-Prizer in play apart from Charizard ex itself. Supporters like Dawn and Irida give the deck a lot of options, and it becomes easy to use one-of Trainer cards such as Counter Catcher and Scoop Up Cyclone.
Like many evolving decks, Charizard ex can struggle against Kyurem's Trifrost in decks like Regidrago and Lugia, and that is an obstacle in the current metagame. It also tends to struggle with Wobbuffet, a common inclusion in many decks, and needs to run cards like Klefki or Silent Lab to deal with it. Apart from that, however, it has all the makings of a strong deck, and recently received a buff in the form of Poké Pad. Charizard ex's Dark typing is also very good against decks like Gardevoir and Shadow Rider, whereas its own Grass weakness is rarely seen in Expanded.
